Mahama Launches ‘Tree for Life’ Project in the Ashanti Region

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has launched the Tree for Life Project in the Ashanti Region to promote environmental sustainability and reforestation efforts.

The launch ceremony was held in Nkawie, a town in the Ashanti Region, on Friday, March 21, 2025. The event brought together key stakeholders, including the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, the Ashanti Regional Minister, other government ministers, traditional leaders, youth groups, and representatives from various environmental organizations.

Speaking at the launch, President Mahama emphasized the project’s importance in combating climate change and ensuring a sustainable future. “This initiative is about more than just planting trees; we are planting hope, restoring life, and building a greener Ghana,” he stated.

The Tree for Life Project aims to encourage the practice of afforestation, restore degraded lands, and instill a culture of environmental responsibility among Ghanaians. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the nation’s climate resilience and ecological balance while fostering community participation in environmental conservation.
