Video: Kwahuhene Sits on Floor, Weeps and Challenges Police as Officers Move to Enforce Court Order at Abene Palace

Traditional chief Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III sitting on the ground in front of police officers during a standoff at Abene Palace.

A dramatic scene unfolded at Abene Palace when Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, the Kwahumanhene, was seen sitting on the floor, weeping and chanting as police officers surrounded the palace to enforce a court order directing his removal.

In a short video captured at the scene, the chief is heard gesturing emotionally and daring the police to carry out the eviction if they “believe they have authority over chieftaincy matters.” His words, tone, and gestures have sparked intense reactions online as the footage spreads rapidly.

Police officers maintained calm while positioning themselves around the palace, awaiting further directives. Sources indicate the enforcement action stems from a recent ruling related to a long-standing chieftaincy dispute.

The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued an official statement on the confrontation.
