The Sekyere Kumawu District Education Directorate, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, conducted a School Performance Appraisal Meeting (SPAM) for schools within the Sekyere community. The exercise formed part of the Directorate’s continuous efforts to assess academic progress, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and enhance overall school performance across the district.
Mr. Kwame Oduro-Owusu, the District Director of Education for Kumawu, together with a team of officers from the Directorate. The team embarked on a comprehensive SPAM exercise with three schools in the area, namely Sekyere D/A Saviour JHS, Sekyere Methodist JHS, and Sekyere D/A JHS. These sessions were organised to evaluate the performance trends of the schools and address the factors contributing to low academic outcomes.
To ensure broader stakeholder involvement, official invitations were extended to School Management Committee (SMC) members, the Assembly Member for the area, traditional leaders, PTA executives, parents, and Form Three students from the selected schools. Their participation emphasized the Directorate’s commitment to inclusive decision-making and collective responsibility for educational improvement.
The SPAM analysis was led by Mr. Joseph Mensah, the District Examinations Coordinator, who presented a detailed assessment of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results for the years 2023 and 2024. His presentation highlighted both the achievements and the areas requiring urgent attention.
According to exclusive information gathered by GH Educate Media, some schools and specific subjects were identified as underperforming, prompting strong advice to teachers and students to intensify their efforts to ensure improved outcomes in upcoming examinations.
During the interactive session, stakeholders were given the opportunity to share their views, raise concerns, and propose practical solutions to challenges affecting teaching and learning. Many expressed their commitment to supporting the schools, with assurances and promises from all sides to work towards better performance in future BECE results.
The Directorate reaffirmed its dedication to guiding schools through continuous monitoring, professional support, and collaborative engagement, with the ultimate goal of raising educational performance standards across the district.
The Master of Ceremony (MC) for the event was Madam Cynthia Ackom, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Kumawu Education Directorate.
