The long delayed Bodomase astroturf project which is situated in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region has sparked growing concern among the local population since work grounded to a halt several months ago. On the floor of Parliament in about few days ago, the issue was formally addressed which drew a firm response from the Minister of Local Government, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim.
In the minister’s address to Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim confirmed that the construction ceased due to delays in honoring Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) which left the site idle after a few months of work.
After months of stalled activity, Minister Ahmed Ibrahim has announced in Parliament that work on the Bodomase astroturf in Sekyere Kumawu District will recommence once contract reviews and payments are finalized.
According to the Ministry, he has launched a comprehensive contract review and is actively coordinating the release of required payments and he stressed that once these actions are complete, the contractor will return to resume work without further delay.
“The necessary contract reviews are tracking well, and funds will be disbursed soon to enable work to restart,” the Minister assured lawmakers.
His assurance has provide renewed hope for the completion of a facility intended to benefit youth and sports development in Bodomase and its surrounding communities.
Residents and stakeholders in Sekyere Kumawu will be closely watching government action over the coming weeks to ensure this promise is fulfilled.
