Kumawu Advances to Semi-Finals of Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge

Randy Boakye Yiadom, a student of Bodomase St. Stephen RC JHS, has qualified Kumawu (Sekyere Kumawu District) into the Semi-Finals of the prestigious Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge.

The keenly contested quarter-final featured Kumawu against Tepa in what turned out to be one of the closest battles of the competition so far.

At the end of the challenge, Kumawu edged out Tepa with a narrow margin — securing 88.6 points against Tepa’s 88.5. The victory was met with loud celebrations from supporters who had gathered to cheer the contestants.

By this win, Kumawu has officially booked a place in the Semi-Finals of the competition, where they are set to face Obuasi in the very first contest of the round on Tuesday, September 10 at Great Hall, KNUST.

The Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge has become a flagship programme aimed at improving literacy, boosting confidence, and nurturing reading culture among young people across the Ashanti Region.

Randy’s performance has once again highlighted the strength of Kumawu’s young readers and has raised high expectations for the upcoming contest against Obuasi.

For Sekyere Kumawu Education Directorate and Bodomase St. Stephen RC JHS and the entire Kumawu community, this victory represents not just academic excellence, but also a symbol of hope and pride in the power of education.
