Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of John Mahama for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), engaged with the Chiefs and the people of Assin Engresi in the Assin South Constituency as part of her tour of the Central Region. The visit was an opportunity for her to address several key issues and outline the plans of the NDC if they are elected.
During her address, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted some of the pivotal initiatives that the NDC, under the leadership of John Mahama, intends to implement. One of the main focuses of her speech was Mr. Mahama’s plan to support women in business. She discussed the proposed introduction of a new scheme that will facilitate access to loans for women entrepreneurs on highly flexible terms. This initiative aims to empower women by providing them with the financial resources necessary to start or expand their businesses.
Additionally, she elaborated on the National Apprenticeship Programme, which is designed to offer skills training and apprenticeship opportunities for the youth. This programme seeks to equip young people with valuable skills that will enhance their employability and enable them to contribute effectively to the economy. Upon successful completion of their training, the NDC plans to provide the necessary support to help these individuals establish their own businesses.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also addressed health concerns in the region. She emphasized that John Mahama and the NDC are committed to improving healthcare services by investing in more health personnel and upgrading medical equipment in local health facilities. This investment is intended to address the existing health challenges and ensure that the people of Assin Engresi have access to better healthcare services.
In addition to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s address, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa spoke to the gathering, urging the Chiefs and the people of Engresi to have faith in the NDC and John Mahama. He called for a strong show of support and encouraged voters to cast their ballots for Mr. Mahama in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang concluded her speech by saying that, this indeed is a message of hope to the people of Engresi and appeal to the people to vote for John Mahama, emphasizing that their support will enable him to reset the country and build the Ghana we all want together.
