Since assuming office as one of Ghana’s youngest ministers, many have been eager to learn more about Dr. Frank Amoakohene – especially details about his early life.
Bold. Confident. Focused. Full of ideas. Committed to national duty. Affable. Handsome.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister, has finally sung his story — and yes, you guessed right, he did it on Facebook, where many of his followers and admirers go to catch a “taste of him.”
The Ashanti Regional Minister, has shared his personal life story, revealing the hardships he faced as a young man. It is a story you would never imagine—especially coming from a man known today for his energy, focus, and passion as one of Ghana’s youngest ministers.
In the post, Dr. Amoakohene recounts how he lost his father just days after completing his WASSCE in 2008. At the time, he describes feeling hopeless and unsure if he would ever make it to the university.
Despite what many would naturally assume for a man of his current position, appearance, and confidence, the minister revealed that he did not find things easy growing up; his journey was shaped by survival, self-reliance, and resilience.
In 2006, two years before his father passed, he began learning to play instruments, first at church, then at Osei Tutu Senior High School, a skill that would later become a lifeline.
He also recalled how his father taught him the basics of electrical and electronic repairs, which he only took seriously after the family’s breadwinner passed away. Dr. Amoakohene started fixing fans, rewiring sockets, and doing odd jobs to survive.

With support from his older brothers and uncles, he managed to stay afloat and eventually gained admission into university in 2010. But that wasn’t the end of the hustle. On campus, he turned his repair skills into a business — fixing damaged laptops, restoring amplifiers for church fellowships, and solving hostel power faults for a fee.
“Not millions, but enough. Enough to eat. Enough to dream. Enough to believe again.”
