Former presidential aide Samuel Koku Anyidoho addressed claims regarding his influence during the administration of the late President John Evans Atta Mills. Anyidoho dismissed suggestions that he wielded more power than then-Vice President John Dramani Mahama.
I was never more powerful than Vice President John Mahama when I worked with President Mills
– Anyidoho on X (formerly Twitter)
During the Mills administration, Anyidoho served as the Director of Communications at the Presidency, a role that placed him in a strategic position within the government.
Mr. Anyidoho’s comment was meant to clarify his role in the administration at the time, but it has rather reignited discussions about the internal dynamics of the Mills presidency. Some followers of X (twitter) believe that tensions existed between key figures in the government, particularly in the transition leading up to the 2012 elections, which saw Mahama ascend to the presidency following Mills’ passing.
It would be recalled that Anyidoho has remained vocal on political matters in Ghana, often defending the legacy of President Mills while critiquing certain aspects of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party to which both Mills and Mahama belonged.
