Dr. Randy Abbey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board, has unequivocally apologized to all farmers affected on behalf of the Government and the Board over the delay in payment for their sold cocoa products.
According to Dr. Abbey, the previous government left a debt of over GH₵ 32 billion, which has contributed to the struggle to pay these farmers.
This was revealed on the TV3 Key Point programme held on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
He therefore appealed to farmers to remain calm, assuring them that the Board is actively seeking a solution to make the payments soon.
“We at Ghana Cocoa Board take full responsibility and apologize to all stakeholders, including the farmers affected by this, even though it is an inherited problem,” Dr. Abbey emphasized.
He further promised that the Board is committed to finding a lasting solution to ensure this does not happen again. The Ministry of Finance and the Board are continuously putting measures in place to overcome this challenge in the near future.
