Ghana’s Finance Minister has strongly denied allegations of approving a $1.7 million single-source procurement contract, dismissing the claims as “completely false and misleading.”

In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the minister clarified that since assuming office, he has not approved any procurement contracts.

Let me state clearly and categorically: I have not approved any procurements since I took office as Minister,

The alleged contract approval has sparked debate online, with some questioning the origins of the claim. The minister, however, urged the public to disregard the false reports, emphasizing that his focus remains on safeguarding Ghana’s financial integrity.

This latest controversy comes amid heightened scrutiny of government spending, with increasing demands for greater oversight in public procurement processes.
