The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced the commencement of its licensing process for service providers in the gold trading sector. This follows an earlier public notice issued on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
According to the statement signed by GoldBod’s Media Relations Officer, Prince Kwame Minkah, the licensing is open to all Ghanaians aged 18 and above as well as fully-owned Ghanaian companies.

Go to http://goldbod.gov.gh - Choose Your License Type
The following categories are open for application:
- Aggregator License
- Self-financing Aggregator License
- Buyer License (Tier 2)
- Buyer License (Tier 1)
(Refining, Smelting, Storage, Transportation, and Importation Licenses will be available from July 2025.)
3. Read the Terms and Conditions
Applicants must review and accept the conditions before proceeding.
4. Submit Application Online
Complete the application form and upload all required documents on the site.
n-person applications are also accepted at the GoldBod license office in Accra.
GoldBod has reminded the public that all gold transactions must use the Bank of Ghana Reference Rate, accessible at http://bog.gov.gh.
The directive requiring all foreigners to exit the local gold trading market by April 30, 2025, remains in force. However, foreign applicants may apply to off-take gold directly from the GoldBod.
