The Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace as part of his working tour of the Ashanti Region. Accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Minister discussed a number of key educational policies which are dear to the heart of the ruling NDC government. Other important interventions aimed at improving learning outcomes and ensuring access to quality education for all Ghanaian children were also discussed.
Some of the major initiatives outlined by the Education Minister are:
✅ Providing textbooks for all basic school children
✅ Reviewing the Free Senior High School (FSHS) program for improved efficiency
✅ Introducing free first-year education at the tertiary level
✅ Granting free tertiary education for persons with disabilities
✅ Supporting schools affected by recent rainstorms

Hon. Haruna Iddrisu reiterated that education is a critical pillar of national development and expressed gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his continuous guidance and support in shaping the country’s education sector.
He assured the Asantehene that the government is committed to making quality education accessible to all, regardless of background.
The NDC MP for Tamale South is of the view that with strong leadership and collaboration, the NDC together with the support of all well-meaning Ghanaians will be building a brighter future for Ghana’s youth!
