Hon. Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, the Deputy Minister for Education and the Member of Parliament for Builsa South Constituency, has revealed that private schools will be included in the Free SHS programme.
He made this statement during a public sensitization on the 2025 School Selection Guidelines, held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in Accra.
According to Dr. Apaak, consultations and engagements with private schools are far advanced, and the Ministry is committed to ensuring that students are enrolled in private schools in the next academic year.
The Deputy Minister reiterated that this partnership will help end the Double Track system.
It is important to note that, since the introduction of the Free Senior High School system, many private schools have seen a decline in enrolment, with some even collapsing, leaving proprietors and principals appealing to the government for inclusion in the programme.
This development will be a welcome relief and a positive response to their longstanding petition.
