Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, has announced the government’s commitment and readiness to promote Ghana Education Service (GES) Deputy Directors to Director status.

This statement was made at the official launch of the Free Sanitary Pads initiative for female students in pre-tertiary schools across Ghana.

The Minister revealed that he had been directed by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, the President of Ghana, to ensure the implementation of this promotion policy for teachers who have been denied elevation due to the unavailability of office space — a key factor preventing GES Deputy Directors from rising to the rank of Director.

He indicated that during the 2024 election campaign, the NDC government received numerous complaints regarding this issue. He emphasized that the NDC had pledged to resolve the challenge when voted into power.

Hon. Iddrisu assured GES staff that the government remains committed to fulfilling this campaign promise.
