John Dramani Mahama, the former President of Ghana and the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024 elections, has reiterated that God has guided his steps throughout his political journey. This statement was made during an engagement with the clergy on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Since I started my political journey, God has guided my steps and given me the privilege of experiencing every level of political leadership.

During the meeting, Mr. Mahama shared that his experiences and insights have shaped his commitment to helping the country, particularly in times of crisis. “That is why I stand before you,” he remarked, “humbly seeking your prayers, counsel, and blessings as we join hands with the Church of Christ to rescue and renew our nation.”

Mr. Mahama further emphasized that Ghana is in a critical condition under the current Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration. He expressed his belief that the nation needs him once again to steer it toward a path of restoration and renewal. According to him, his leadership is essential to reset the country and alleviate the challenges Ghanaians are facing.

The former President’s remarks come as part of his broader campaign efforts, in which he seeks not only political support but also the prayers and guidance of religious leaders to restore Ghana to stability. His engagement with the clergy highlights his reliance on faith and the church’s role in the nation’s journey forward.
