The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has announced the approval of a €5 million grant from the Italian government to support Ghana’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector under a new project called Revitalising Institutions for Scales Enhancement (RISE).

The Minister emphasised at a stakeholders engagement that investing in technical and vocational education remains one of the most effective ways to tackle youth unemployment in the country.

“We must help produce entrepreneurs who can create their own jobs and not rely on government,” Hon. Iddrisu said.
Hon. Haruna Iddrisu directed the Director General of Ghana TVET Service, Eng. Dr. Eric Kofi Adzroe, to work closely with the Ministry’s Policy Planning Directorate to rebrand the sector and better position TVET as a pathway to entrepreneurship and innovation.

The RISE project will be implemented by the Ministry of Education through the Commission for TVET (CTVET). The initiative will strengthen institutions and enhance training centres across Ghana, particularly those involved in hands-on skills development.

The Chairperson of the TVET Council, Mr. Sebastian Fred Deh, praised the Minister for his leadership and assured him of the Council’s commitment to providing strategic direction to ensure the project’s success.
