The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), has held a two-day joint training programme on victim support for key stakeholders in Kumasi.
The training which took place from Monday, 22nd to Tuesday, 23rd December 2025 was held at the Public Service Union Center (PSUC) Guest House at TUC, Kumasi was to sensitize key stakeholders on the need to seek equality for all victims of Gender Base Violence (GBV).
The two-day training brought together personnel from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), alongside officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Department of Social Welfare (DSW).

With sponsorship from UNICEF, these participants were drawn from the Ashanti, Bono East, Volta, and Eastern Regions, for the intensive 2-day training.
The programme focused on strengthening inter-agency collaboration and improving professional capacity in handling cases involving abuse, violence, trafficking, and exploitation, particularly those affecting children. Key sessions covered victim-centred approaches, trauma-informed case management, and effective referral and coordination mechanisms among relevant institutions.
The training was facilitated by senior officers from the Ghana Police Headquarters, including Chief Superintendent Shilla Abayie Buckman (CID/HQ) and Chief Superintendent Lydia Osei Agyapong (DOVVSU/HQ) with support from Chief Superintendent Mr. Philip Ameyaw (Finance/DOVVSU).
