Ghana has been handed one of the toughest assignments in the FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage, following the draw in Washington, D.C. today, Friday, 5th December, 2025, where Otto Addo’s Black Stars landed in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
Now, what this means is that Ghana is making a huge return to the global stage with a challenging path, as the group features European giants England, 2018 finalists Croatia, and a rapidly improving Panama side.

England enters the tournament as one of the favourites, while Croatia remain a proven tournament force with deep midfield experience. Panama, though considered underdogs, have strong cohesion and athleticism.

For Ghana, the draw provides both a challenge and an opportunity to make a major statement in the expanded 48-team World Cup format.
The Black Stars will now have to seriously strengthen preparations to go through what analysts are already calling one of the competition’s most competitive groups.
With the stage set, all attention shifts to the tactical decisions, squad selection, and warm-up matches by Otto Addo that will shape Ghana’s campaign.
