Ghana has bid farewell to the German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Daniel Krull.
In a brief session with the German Ambassador, H.E. John Dramani Mahama expressed his appreciation for receiving H.E. Daniel Krull, the outgoing Ambassador, marking the conclusion of his four-year term. Reports suggest that they had a productive discussion, reflecting on the strong foundation of the Ghana-Germany partnership during his tenure.
The President emphasized Ghana’s commitment to building on the excellent bilateral relations and exploring potential areas for deeper cooperation, particularly in the critical sectors of economic development and security.
Mr. Mahama expressed Ghana’s gratitude for Germany’s continued support in strengthening the country’s security architecture, including contributions to the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) and valuable capacity-building initiatives for Ghanaian security personnel.
He also expressed deep concern over the evolving security challenges in the sub-region, especially the growing threat of terrorism in the Sahel. Ghana is ready to work closely with Germany on targeted capacity training programs to bolster regional efforts in combating this menace, the President stated.
Addressing the complex issue of irregular migration, Mr. Mahama highlighted Ghana’s collaborative efforts with partners like the IOM and the EU. He stressed the importance of working together to create sustainable local opportunities for young people, thereby reducing the risks associated with dangerous journeys across the Sahara and the Mediterranean.
According to the Ghanaian President, Ambassador Krull has been a true friend of Ghana during his stay. He appreciated his dedication and service.
He wished him the very best in his future endeavours and assured him that he is always welcome to visit Ghana whenever he misses it.
