Accra – GES Suspends New PTA Guidelines Nationwide

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially suspended the implementation of the newly introduced Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Guidelines across all Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) in Ghana.

In a directive dated 12th November 2025 and signed by Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, Acting Deputy Director-General (Q&A), the GES instructed all heads of schools and PTA bodies to immediately halt the collection of PTA levies as outlined in the recent guidelines.

According to the circular, the suspension takes immediate effect and must be strictly complied with until further notice.

GES by that letter has tasked all Regional and District Directors of Education to ensure the directive is communicated to all schools under their supervision and that no breaches occur while the guidelines remain on hold.

The statement emphasized that the directive is urgent and mandatory, pending further instructions from GES Management.

The notice was copied to the Chairman of the GES Council, the Acting Director-General, the Acting DDG (MS), the Director of Schools & Instruction, and the Head of the Legal Unit.
