Ghana Education Service (GES) has opened the Teacher Promotion Application Portal for teachers who are due for promotion.
According to the letter, applications are invited from suitably qualified serving teachers/officers for consideration for promotion to the following ranks:
a. Deputy Director
b. Assistant Director I
c. Assistant Director II
d. Principal Superintendent
Qualifications for the GES Teacher Promotion Application
a) Deputy Director: Applicants should have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director I in or before 2020 and should have been continuously at post since that date (except for periods of approved leave of absence).
b) Assistant Director I: Applicants should have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Director II in or before 2020 and should have been continuously at post since that date (except for periods of approved leave of absence).
c) Assistant Director II: Applicants should have been promoted to the rank of Principal Superintendent in or before 2020 and should have been continuously at post since that date (except for periods of approved leave of absence).
d) Principal Superintendent: Applicants should have been promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendent I in or before 2020 and should have been continuously at post since that date (except for periods of approved leave of absence). Applicants who have obtained an approved undergraduate degree will be automatically placed on this rank.
Officers/Teachers with Master’s/PhD Degrees
For the avoidance of doubt, applicants who wish to rely on a Master’s or Doctorate degree to be considered for interviews out of turn should note the following:
a) The Master’s/PhD programme must be on the approved GES course of study.
b) The Master’s/PhD certificate must not have been obtained before the previous promotion.
c) Applicants who wish to use a Master’s/PhD certificate for ADI, ADII, or Deputy Director promotion should have obtained the certificate in or before 2022.
Mode of Application for Teacher Promotion Exams
- Applicants should complete the application form online via https://bit.ly/gespromotions2025 or scan the QR code provided to apply.
- Applicants should upload the following documents: a passport-size photograph (in jpeg, jpg, or png format), last promotion/appointment/upgrading letter, and the highest academic certificate used for applying for the promotion.
- All uploaded documents MUST be in PDF format (except the passport photograph) and should be clear and legible.
- The application window is open from Monday, 18th August, to Friday, 5th September, 2025.
Teachers are strongly encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline.
