The Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the opening of applications for Study Leave with Pay for the 2025 academic year, extending a valuable opportunity for eligible teaching and non-teaching staff to pursue further studies while maintaining their employment.
In a circular dated 25th July 2025, the Regional Director, Dr. William Kwame Amankra Appiah, called on all Metro, Municipal, and District Directors, as well as Heads of Senior High/Technical and STEM Schools in the region, to disseminate the information to qualified staff within their jurisdictions.
Applicants are required to pick up application forms from their Metro/Municipal/District Education Offices and submit four completed copies, along with certified true copies of essential documents such as the admission letter, first appointment letter, current payslip, and promotion letter (if applicable).
All application materials both hard and soft copies (in Excel format) are to be submitted through the appropriate authorities to the Regional Director of Education, Ashanti, for onward submission to the GES Headquarters in Accra.
The deadline for submission has been set for Friday, 3rd October 2025.
To assist applicants in selecting approved programmes of study, an attached document outlines the approved subject areas eligible for Study Leave with Pay. Importantly, this attachment also provides the percentage allocations for the various courses, indicating priority areas based on national educational needs.

This policy initiative underscores GES’s commitment to continuous professional development among its staff and aims to build a stronger, more skilled workforce that can effectively support Ghana’s educational transformation.
The Directorate is encouraging all interested and qualified staff to take full advantage of this opportunity while adhering strictly to the guidelines and deadlines outlined.
