Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister for Roads and Highways, has officially launched the Road Maintenance App and Call Center in Ghana. The event, which took place under the theme “Maintain My Road,” marks a significant step towards enhancing the country’s road maintenance efforts.

In his address, Hon. Asenso-Boakye outlined the purpose of the new Mobile App and Call Center. He explained that these tools are designed to improve the Ministry of Roads and Highways’ maintenance program by involving the public in reporting and addressing road issues such as potholes and other defects. The initiative aims to create a more efficient and responsive system for managing the nation’s road infrastructure.

Individuals can download the Road Maintenance App from the Google Play Store (App Store) or use the Call Center number provided (0307007001) to lodge a complaint for a swift response.

Hon. Asenso-Boakye highlighted the accomplishments of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration since it took office in 2017. He stated that, Ghana has seen the construction of six new interchanges, 35 bridges, and an impressive 12,830.33 kilometers of roads.

Despite these achievements, Asenso-Boakye acknowledged that there are still challenges to be addressed. He noted that while successive governments have made substantial progress in road infrastructure, routine maintenance remains a critical issue. Problems such as potholes, road defects, limited rural access, accidents, and urban congestion continue to affect the quality of Ghana’s road network.

To address these challenges, the Ministry of Roads and Highways has introduced the Road Maintenance App and Call Center as innovative solutions. These tools are intended to facilitate timely and effective public reporting of road issues, thereby enabling faster response and maintenance. By involving the community in this process, the Ministry hopes to enhance road conditions and address public concerns more efficiently.

Asenso-Boakye emphasized that the introduction of these tools represents a significant advancement in road maintenance practices. The Call Center and Mobile App are expected to boost community involvement, ensuring that road infrastructure improvements are more aligned with the needs and concerns of the public.
