Former Member of Parliament for Jaman South and former Deputy Minister of Aviation, Hon. Yaw Afful, has been attacked and robbed at gunpoint on the Drobbo–Benkum road.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred when armed men blocked the road and forced the former MP out of his vehicle. The attackers reportedly beat him to the ground before making away with his personal belongings.
The violent robbery has sparked shock and concern in the Bono Region, with residents calling for improved security along rural roads, which they say have become increasingly unsafe due to frequent attacks by armed gangs.
Police in the area have confirmed the incident and say investigations are underway to track down the perpetrators. They have also intensified patrols in the area to assure travellers of safety.
Hon. Afful, who served as Deputy Minister of Aviation during his time in office, is reported to be recovering after the assault. Sources close to him say although shaken, he is stable.
Community leaders have described the attack as a worrying reflection of the growing insecurity in some parts of the country, urging swift action to restore confidence and protect lives.
