Efutu Senior High Technical Wins First and Third in Zone 3 Athletics Competition

Efutu Senior High Technical School (Efutu SHTS) has achieved an outstanding victories by winning first place in the girls’ division and securing third place in the boys’ category at the Zone 3 Athletics Competition in the Central Region.

The competition which was held at the Cape Coast Stadium, saw several schools compete in various track and field events. While Efutu SHTS emerged victorious in the girls’ division, Mfantsipim School dominated the boys’ category. Efutu SHTS athletes, particularly the girls, showcased exceptional skill, resilience, and teamwork, earning them a well-deserved victory.

Reports indicate that Grace Ewusi played a pivotal role in Efutu SHTS’s triumph, winning gold in both the 1500m and 800m events and securing silver in the 3000m race. It is interesting to note that, she broke her own personal record from the previous year in the 1500m event and set new records in both the 1500m and 800m categories.

Another standout performer was Helina Abedu, who made history by setting a new zonal record in the 400m hurdles with a remarkable time of 1 minute and 8 seconds, earning her a gold medal. Additionally, Makafui Dufe was adjudged the best female athlete of the competition after winning gold in the 100m hurdles, 200m, and 400m events.

The management, teachers, students, and supporters of Efutu SHTS, who were present at the Cape Coast Stadium, expressed their pride and excitement over the remarkable achievements of their athletes.

With this impressive performance, anticipation is high for Efutu SHTS in the upcoming Super Zonal Competition, scheduled for February 27–28, 2025. The school remains confident that its athletes will continue to excel and bring home more accolades.
