Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced that a fresh parliamentary election will be conducted in 19 polling stations within the Ablekuma North Constituency on Friday, 11 July 2025.
The move comes after months of dispute and public pressure following the 2024 general election, where the parliamentary results in Ablekuma North remained inconclusive. Initially, the Commission cited three polling stations as outstanding but has since expanded the scope after further consultations and internal review.
In a statement, the EC said the decision to rerun the election was taken “in the interest of electoral integrity and democratic accountability.”

Security agencies are expected to be on high alert to ensure the process is peaceful and transparent. The rerun will allow voters in the affected polling stations to decide the final outcome of a closely contested seat.
The delayed resolution had sparked protests by some opposition Members of Parliament and civil society organisations, who insisted that justice could only be served through a credible rerun.
The result of the upcoming vote is likely to have implications for the current parliamentary composition.
