The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced the approval of 13 Presidential candidates for the 2024 general elections.
These 13 Presidential candidates are set to contest the presidency on December 7.
The letter detailed the following:
“Following the successful conduct of the filing of nominations from the 9th to the 13th of September, 2024, the Commission instituted a thorough examination of the nomination forms submitted by the candidates to ensure conformity with the requirements set out in law,” a statement issued by the EC said on the morning of Friday, September 20.
“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that the following persons have successfully gone through the nomination process and qualify to contest as candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election.”
Candidates and their Party or Entity
- Mahamudu Bawumia – New Patriotic Party (NPP)
- John Dramani Mahama – National Democratic Congress (NDC)
- Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen – Independent Candidate
- Christian Kwabena Andrews – Ghana Union Movement (GUM)
- Daniel Augustus Lartey Jnr – Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP)
- George Twum-Barima-Adu – Independent Candidate
- Nana Kwame Bediako – Independent Candidate
- Akua Donkor – Ghana Freedom Party (GFP)
- Hassan Abdulai Ayariga – All People’s Congress (APC)
- Kofi Akpaloo – Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG)
- Mohammed Frimpong – National Democratic Party (NDP)
- Nana Akosua Frimpomaa – Convention People’s Party (CPP)
- Kofi Koranteng – Independent Candidate
Some notable aspirants have been disqualified which include Janet Nabla, an independent aspirant, Kofi Asamoah Siaw, and Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC), of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).
