The Education Department of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Kumawu District, successfully held its 2025 Annual Quiz Competition at the Kumawu Ebenezer Congregation auditorium.
This year’s event marked a significant role in the district’s history as all Presbyterian schools both JHS and Primary gathered under one roof for the first time ever. The feat was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Education Committee Chairperson, Mr. Boakye Amponsah, affectionately known as “OgaLee.” His commitment broke long standing logistical barriers and brought every school together for an unforgettable academic experience.
The competition featured four Junior High Schools:
Woraso Presby JHS – 40 points
Kumawu Presby JHS – 52 points
Bodomase Presby JHS – 27 points
Drobonso Presby JHS – 19 points
Kumawu Presby JHS clinched the top spot as winners, followed by Woraso Presby JHS as 1st runner-up, and Bodomase Presby JHS as 2nd runner-up.
In the Primary category, all five Presbyterian schools were represented:
Woraso Presby Primary – 48 points
Kumawu Presby Primary – 71 points
Bodomase Presby Primary – 51 points
Drobonso Presby Primary – 46 points
Bodwease Presby Primary – 31 points
Kumawu Presby Primary emerged as winners, scoring an impressive 71 points, followed by Bodomase Presby Primary with 51 points as 1st runner up whiles Woraso Presby Primary finished the 2nd runner up securing 48 points, Drobonso 46 points and Bodwease 31 points
The quiz tested knowledge across five subjects: English Language, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Religious and Moral Education (R.M.E), and Presbyterian Issues.
The quiz master for the program was Mr. Agyenim who is a long serving educator at Tweneboah Koduah SHS and his colleague educators who also served as accurate time keeper and scores master.
Opening the ceremony with prayer was the District Minister, Rev. Peter Omane Atuahene and accompanied by the district clerk, Catechist Joseph Oppong Koduah, Catechist Obed Richmond Owusu and the district treasurer, Catechist Barfi Antwi as well as teachers and education enthusiasts from across the district gathered in support.
Both Kumawu Presby JHS and Primary shall represent the district at the Zonal level for further competition scheduled for May 23rd, 2025, in Ashanti Effiduase and the winner from the zonals shall proceed to Presbytery level at Ashanti Mampong for further competition for the ultimate.
This historic event not only showcased academic prowess but also highlighted the spirit of unity and excellence that defines the Presbyterian educational mission in Kumawu.
