Cole Palmer was named Golden Ball winner and Man of the Match after a commanding display in Chelsea’s 3–0 victory over Paris Saint‑Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
Palmer scored a clinical brace in the 22nd and 30th minutes and provided the assist for João Pedro’s third just before halftime. His dominance in the midfield and threat in attack made him the standout performer not only in the final, but across the entire tournament which won the accolade of Golden Ball as the competition’s top player.
The recognition adds to an already impressive awards cabinet which he won earlier in the season, Palmer was named Premier League Game Changer of the Season through his match-winning impact at Chelsea. At the Club World Cup, that influence reached a global stage.
Manager Enzo Maresca praised Palmer’s composure and tactical intelligence, as he noted how he “found pockets of space all over the pitch” and executed with precision throughout the tournament.
With the Golden Ball and Man of the Match awards, Chelsea’s second Club World Cup title under his belt, Palmer is firmly on the path to becoming one of England’s brightest football talents.
