In a commanding display at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea put on a near-faultless performance to beat FC Barcelona 3–0 in their 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Matchday 5 clash.
The scoring opened early when Barcelona defender Jules Koundé inadvertently turned one into his own net in the 27th minute, giving Chelsea the lead.
In a few moment into the second half, Chelsea young winger Estêvão Willians struck with a spectacular shot from the edge of the box to double the lead as the strike left the visiting defence flat.
The hammer blow came in the 73rd minute as Liam Delap poked home a low finish from close range, with the goal upheld after a VAR review which sealed a dominant victory.
Barcelona were already down to 10 men at halftime following a red card to Ronald Araújo, which severely undermined their shape and resilience.
Chelsea dictated the tempo all evening, controlling possession, pressing high, and suffocating any catalyst for a Catalan comeback.
For Barcelona, it was a humbling night and arguably one of their worst European evenings in recent memory as it stark contrast from their usual attacking fluidity.
For Chelsea, this is more than just three points but also a powerful statement of intent in a very competitive group phase, and a reminder of what they can achieve when firing on all cylinders.
