Chelsea head into the break leading 1–0 against Barcelona after a dramatic first half at Stamford Bridge. The goal came in the 27th minute when a short corner routine saw Cucurella deliver a low cross as the ball ricocheted off Jules Koundé and into his own net.
The Spanish giants are further disadvantaged after captain Ronald Araújo was shown a second yellow late in the first half, reducing Barcelona to ten men.
Chelsea, showing intensity and control, had already seen two other goals ruled out before the opener but their pressure paid off.
With the lead and a numerical advantage, the Blues look in a strong position as the match enters the second half.
