The Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong has ordained seven young men into the sacred priesthood in a deeply spiritual and moving ceremony held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Jamasi, Ashanti Region.

The ordination, which drew hundreds of parishioners, clergy, religious, and family members, marked the third priestly ordination and the first Diocesan Priestly Ordination solemnly presided over by Most Rev. John Opoku-Agyemang, since his Episcopal Ordination and installation as Bishop of the Diocese.

In the homily, Bishop John Opoku-Agyemang urged the newly ordained priests to model their lives after Christ and be ready to serve both God and the faithful with humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment. He reminded them of their new identity, as priests forever in the order of Melchizedek, and called on them to be selfless stewards of the Gospel.
“Let your lives be a sacrifice. Bring the people to Christ and serve the Diocese with faithfulness,” the Bishop encouraged.

The Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese, Most Rev. Joseph Osei-Bonsu, also honoured the ceremony with his esteemed presence, offering his blessings and lending a deep sense of spiritual significance and tradition to the occasion.

The newly ordained priests are expected to celebrate their First Holy Mass in their respective parishes on Sunday, July 6, 2025, marking the beginning of their journey in the priesthood and symbolizing their readiness to serve their communities.
In a thoughtful gesture toward inclusivity, the Catholic faithful, loved ones, family, and friends who could not attend the ordination in person were able to participate virtually, as the entire ceremony was streamed live via the Diocese’s official Facebook page. This allowed many across the country and beyond to witness the sacred occasion and share in the joy of the Church.
The Diocese has described the event as a sign of growth, grace, and spiritual renewal for the Church and has called on the faithful to continue praying for vocations and to support the new priests as they take up their pastoral duties.
