Breaking: WAEC Releases 2024 WASSCE Provisional Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates (Ghana Only Version).

Details of the Released Letter is Provided Below:

“The Council wishes to inform the public that provisional results for candidates who sat for the 2024 WASSCE for School Candidates have been released.

Login credentials will be provided to heads of schools to enable them to access their candidates’ results. Additionally, candidates who wish to access their results may do so via the Council’s website, www.waecgh.org.

The Council cautions all stakeholders to beware of fraudsters who claim they can upgrade results for a fee. Candidates are reminded that WAEC results are secure and can be authenticated using its results verification system. The WAEC QR code, which can be downloaded, allows stakeholders to verify results.

Performance Statistics
A total of 460,611 candidates, comprising 212,954 males and 247,657 females from 1,003 schools, registered for the examination. This represents a 2.66% increase over the 2023 entry figure of 448,674. Out of the total, 4,609 candidates (1.0%) were absent from the examination.

The performance of candidates in the four core subjects is detailed in the tables below.

Examination Irregularities
Following investigations into irregularities reported during the examination, the 37th Meeting of the Ghana Examinations Committee, held on Wednesday, December 16, 2024, approved the following actions:

  1. Cancellation of Subject Results for 4,108 candidates who brought foreign materials, such as prepared notes, textbooks, and printed materials, into the examination halls.
  2. Cancellation of Entire Results for 483 candidates found in possession of mobile phones during the examination.
  3. Withholding of Results:
    • Subject results of 781 candidates and the entire results of 209 candidates for various suspected offenses.
    • Subject results of candidates from 319 schools for alleged collusion.

The withheld results will either be released or canceled based on the outcomes of ongoing investigations.

Conclusion
The Council extends its sincerest gratitude to all stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, security agencies, heads of institutions, supervisors, invigilators, examiners, and all others who contributed to the successful conduct of the examination and the release of results.”
