Controversial Ghanaian blogger, Bongo Ideas, has launched a blistering critique of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, describing his tenure as one marked by failure, betrayal, and suffering for ordinary Ghanaians.
In a viral post, Bongo Ideas accused the former president of presiding over one of the most corrupt and nepotistic administrations in Ghana’s history. He claimed Akufo Addo came from a “family of traitors” and ultimately became “widely regarded as the worst president Ghana has ever had.” According to the blogger, Akufo-Addo’s leadership pushed countless Ghanaian youths into depression through rising unemployment, economic hardship, and the loss of hope. He became synonymous with galamsey (illegal mining), which devastated Ghana’s forests and water bodies under the pretense of a failed crackdown.
Bongo Ideas further slammed the former president for taxing “everything possible,” earning him the nickname “Tax Master,” while citizens battled rising inflation and economic pressure. He also mocked the infamous luxurious chair the president reportedly carried on foreign trips, calling it a “symbol of arrogance and waste.” Key national scandals such as the PDS deal, the Agyapa royalties controversy, COVID-19 fund mismanagement, and the controversial National Cathedral project were highlighted as examples of gross mismanagement and lack of accountability.
The blogger didn’t stop there but went further as he criticized the increasing suppression of freedom of speech, attacks on journalists, and the general climate of fear and silence under Akufo-Addo’s watch.
In a final searing remark, Bongo Ideas stated, “His legacy will be remembered for betrayal, broken promises, and the suffering of the people he swore to serve. He left a scar on each of us. Never again.
