The Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially launched the 2025 Ashanti High Schools’ Music Fiesta, under the theme “Music Without Borders: United in Harmony.” The event took place on Wednesday, 4 June 2025, at the JAK Auditorium of Prempeh College in Kumasi.
The Music Fiesta is an initiative designed to promote creativity, unity, and cultural expression among students across the Ashanti Region. It brought together senior high schools, technical schools, and STEM institutions to celebrate the power of music in education and youth development.
The occasion was graced by Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV (Apagyahene) as Guest of Honour, with Hon. Eric Assibey, the Municipal Chief Executive of Kwadaso, serving as Host Guest of Honour. The programme was chaired by the Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr. William Kwame Amankra Appiah, who has been a strong advocate for arts and extracurricular learning.
In his address, Dr. Appiah described the fiesta as a platform to foster unity and nurture young talent through music. He noted that the GES aims to harness students’ artistic potential to complement academic excellence and character development.

Participating schools were invited with delegations including school heads, patrons, and student performers. Observing schools were also encouraged to submit their profiles for documentation and future collaboration. The event provided a stage for students to showcase talent while building confidence, teamwork, and a shared identity.
The fiesta forms part of GES Ashanti’s broader effort to promote holistic education and meaningful student engagement. It is expected to culminate in a regional showcase and pave the way for national recognition of exceptional student performers.
