The Ashanti Regional Education Directorate has organized a one-day intensive re-orientation workshop for key academic staff across all 142 Senior High Schools (SHS) in the region as part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of Ghana’s ongoing secondary education reform.
The workshop, which took place from Monday, May 25 to Thursday, May 29, 2025, brought together Assistant Headmasters in charge of Academics, Heads of Department (HODs), and focal persons for the reform agenda. The engagement was carried out in four (4) cohorts across four zonal centers: Bekwai SDA SHS, Prempeh College, Ejisuman SHS, and Osei Kyeretwie SHS, with each group participating for one full day.

During the training sessions, participants were taken through key focus areas such as
- Proper implementation of the new SHS assessment framework
- Tracking and reporting progress on School Improvement Plans (SIPs)
- Accurate documentation and monitoring of Professional Learning Community (PLC) attendance by teachers
The workshop was organized by the Regional Directorate in collaboration with T-TEL, and NGO and educational policy advise and expert organisation.
The Deputy Regional Director, Mr. Thomas Kwame Boateng who represented the Regional Director of Education, said, the initiative forms part of the directorate’s broader strategy to ensure high standards in academic leadership and educational delivery at the senior high school level.
Participants expressed deep appreciation for the initiative and called for more of such capacity-building engagements to reinforce their knowledge and ensure effective policy implementation across the region’s secondary schools.
