Asanteman Pays Tribute to Late Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II

The people of Asanteman are in mourning following the passing of the Mamponghene, a revered traditional leader whose life was marked by wisdom, dignity, and unwavering service to the Asante Kingdom.

As he lies in state, surrounded by the customs and traditions he so proudly upheld, tributes continue to pour in for a chief who symbolised stability and heritage. Known for his humility on the Silver Stool and his deep connection with his people, the Mamponghene’s leadership offered continuity in a rapidly changing world.

“In his voice, we heard the strength of our forefathers. In his leadership, we found calm and courage,” one mourner said during a solemn gathering.

Throughout his reign, the Mamponghene played a vital role in cultural preservation, youth mentorship, and upholding the unity of Asanteman. His counsel was valued at both local and national levels, and his presence was felt at every major traditional and state event.

The loss has been deeply felt in Mampong, where many describe him as a father figure, and across Asanteman, where he is remembered as a true pillar of tradition.

His legacy defined by unity, cultural pride, and quiet strength will live on in every oath sworn to the Golden Stool, every beat of the drum, and every woven thread of kente cloth.

“May his soul find rest among the honoured ancestors,” a local elder said.
“Yɛda wo ase, Nana. Da yie, Daasebre.”
