Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communication Team, has confidently asserted that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government has built an impressive track record spanning all sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
He made this claim during an appearance on NEAT 100.9 FM’s Morning Show on Thursday, October 24, 2024, where he discussed the government’s achievements and the breadth of its influence on various facets of national development, including road infrastructure, health improvements, industrial growth, and more.
According to Mr. Appiah Larbi-Ampofo, while the NPP government has not accomplished every goal it set out to achieve, he believes it is steadily advancing on the right path toward building a prosperous and inclusive Ghana. He expressed his confidence that the administration’s long-term vision aligns with the country’s needs and aspirations, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to transform various sectors of the economy for the betterment of the nation.
Having reflecting on his personal experience as an entrepreneur and laborer for nearly a decade, Mr. Appiah Larbi-Ampofo emphasized the need for the government to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. He specifically highlighted the importance of stable electricity for production facilities, a robust agricultural support system for farmers like himself, and a favorable capital and tax framework to enable job creation and economic success. “These are critical elements,” he noted, “and I believe they align with the vision of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”
As an education activist, Mr. Appiah Larbi-Ampofo further commended the government for its achievements in the education sector, including the implementation of the No Guarantor Student Loan, the construction of new universities, and the expansion of basic and secondary school infrastructure. He also stressed the significance of flagship policies like the Free Senior High School (SHS) and Free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, which, in his opinion, must be protected at all costs.
He emphasized the need for the country to leverage TVET and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education to drive further advancements. “I want to see beyond the current achievements,” he stated, “We must have a strategic plan to ensure that TVET and STEM are prioritized to achieve even greater results for Ghana.”
Mr. Appiah Larbi-Ampofo also shared a personal anecdote, noting that his admiration for technical and vocational education inspired him to start an engineering firm. He expressed his firm belief that TVET and STEM education must continue to be robustly developed by any future government. “If I were to go back to secondary school, I would choose TVET without hesitation,” he emphasized.
Mr. Appiah Larbi-Ampofo expressed his steadfast commitment to supporting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) and the broader vision for Ghana. “These are my thoughts and strongest convictions as a Ghanaian,” he said, “and I am fully committed to mobilizing support for DMB and for the future of our country.”
