About 30,000 Classrooms are Without Teachers: Kofi Asare Reveals

Mr. Asare of Edu Watch has emphasised that Ghana’s education sector requires the recruitment of at least 15,000 teachers annually to maintain balance within the education system.

He stressed that this has become necessary to compensate for the inadequate teacher distribution, retirements, resignations, and other forms of attrition that occur each year.

However, Mr. Asare noted that no teacher recruitment took place in 2025 even though there some assurances of recruitment at the beginning of the year.

“As a result, the education sector have not less than 30,000 classrooms without teachers, and the number could be higher,” Mr. Asare stated.

Mr. Asare further indicated that this growing deficit is undermining the quality of education and threatening learning outcomes at the basic school level and must be looked at immediately.
