The University for Development Studies (UDS) has officially announced the appointment of Prof. Mohammed Muniru Idrisu as its new Vice-Chancellor, following a decision by the University’s Governing Council at a meeting held on April 16, 2026.
In a circular issued by the Office of the Registrar, the University community was informed that Prof. Idrisu, an accomplished academic and experienced administrator, will take up the role effective 27th June 2026, with his tenure expected to run until 31st August 2030.
Prof. Idrisu currently serves as the Principal of the Nyankpala Campus and is widely recognised for his dedication to teaching, research, and institutional development. His leadership has been associated with notable progress in academic programmes, staff development, and campus expansion.
The University highlighted his strong track record in both academic and administrative roles, noting that his strategic vision and commitment to excellence position him well to lead the institution into its next phase of growth.
The Governing Council expressed full confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership and advance the University’s mission and long-term objectives. Members of the University community have also been encouraged to offer their full support and cooperation as he assumes office.
