H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, has officially launched the STEMBox initiative for Basic Schools.
The launch took place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Accra.
The event was graced by Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Education; Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES); some basic school students; and other staff from the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service.
The STEMBox initiative for Basic Schools is a pioneering programme designed to enhance practical science education in Ghana. Reports suggest that the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Box has been introduced to basic schools to provide hands-on learning tools directly to classrooms, enabling every child to explore, innovate, and acquire critical STEM skills essential in a world shaped by robotics, AI, and digital technology.
President Mahama emphasized his government’s readiness to support education, particularly in rolling out the STEM Box nationwide to nurture learners’ curiosity and empower the next generation of Ghanaians to become innovators and ICT-oriented citizens.
