Woraso Presby Schools Launch 2026 Centenary with Grand Graduation Ceremony

WORASO PRESBY PRIM JHS GRADUATION & ANNIVERSARY LAUNCH

In a historic turning point for education in the Woraso community, the Woraso Presbyterian Primary and Junior High School jointly held their 2025 Graduation Ceremony, which also doubled as the official launch of the schools’ highly anticipated centenary celebrations set for 2026.

Held under the compelling theme, “Celebrating our Heritage: A Century of Excellence, Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future of Woraso Presby Schools,” this year’s graduation transcended traditional festivities. The celebration unified students, teachers, parents, alumni, and dignitaries in a vibrant display of cultural heritage, academic prowess, and community commitment to school development.

The weeks leading up to the main event were marked by a series of engaging activities both in the school and within the community. These included cleanup exercises, poetry recitals, drama and cultural dance rehearsals, drumming and dance competitions, reading contests, and even student-led news casting. These activities not only showcased the talents of the students but also strengthened community involvement and pride in the schools’ achievements.

At the heart of the ceremony was a poured out of educative and engaging events followed by  fundraising aimed at addressing the pressing infrastructural deficits plaguing the schools and issues that successive governments have overlooked which was spearheaded by the teachers and supported by the Parents Teacher Association (PTA), the initiative aimed to provide much needed renovations and upgrades to ensure a conducive learning environment for current and future generations.

The guest speaker, Dr. Bright Yeboah Akowuah, a distinguished academia and lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), inspired the gathering with a powerful address. As a proud alumnus and native of Woraso, Dr. Akowuah emphasized the urgent need for collaboration between teachers and parents to mold future leaders and urged parents to champion their children’s education as a top priority.

Mr. Kwame Owusu Oduro – District Education Director

Rev. Peter Omane Atuahene – District Minister for the Presbyterian Church of Ghana

In an interview with Gh Educate Media, Mr. Armstrong Delwin and Mr. Lord Botwe, headteachers of the Primary and JHS respectively, reaffirmed their commitment to using the 2025 graduation as a launchpad for transformative change. “Our mission goes beyond the classroom. This is about restoring dignity and pride in our schools. We are not waiting on government alone but we are taking responsibility,” they noted.

Mr. Armstrong highlighted that as the countdown to the 2026 centenary celebration begins, Woraso Presby Schools stand not only as centers of academic excellence but as a beacon of community resilience, innovation, and a shared vision for a brighter educational future.
