The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr. William Kwame Amankra Appiah, has formally welcomed participants to a five-day workshop for Regional Level Assessment Monitors, taking place at Noda Hotel in the Ashanti Region from Tuesday, 1st July, 2025.
Addressing officers from the Ghana Education Service (GES) Headquarters, representatives from the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), facilitators, and participants, Dr. Appiah extended the region’s warmest greetings and expressed gratitude for their presence and dedication to the advancement of education in Ghana.
He emphasized the critical importance of the training, which is designed to build the capacity of participants in the interpretation of content standards, the development of assessment tasks aligned with learning indicators, and the application of appropriate Depth of Knowledge (DoK) levels. The objective, he noted, is to equip monitors to effectively train school leaders, assessment committees, and subject heads on implementing robust internal assessments in line with the revised Senior High School (SHS) curriculum.
Dr. Appiah urged participants to engage fully in the sessions, share best practices, and return to their various regions empowered to champion high-quality assessment standards in schools.
The Director for Schools and Instructions at the GES Headquarters, Mr. Prince Charles Agyeman Duah, in remarks reiterated the importance of the initiative. He called on all participants to take seriously the implementation of the new assessment strategies and formats, stressing that their successful rollout is essential to the long-term success of the curriculum reform agenda.
The workshop marks another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between GES and NaCCA in promoting quality learning outcomes through improved assessment practices.
