A Non-Governmental Organisation, Women’s Health Wealth, has donated mobility carts to learners with special educational needs in the Ashanti Region as part of efforts to promote inclusive education and ensure equal access to schooling for all children.

The first beneficiary of the initiative is Mohammed, a Kindergarten 1 pupil at Asempanaye Basic School in the Offinso North District. Mohammed, who has mobility challenges, received one of the carts during a brief ceremony at the Ashanti Regional Education Office. His excitement was visible as he tested his new cart, one that will now help him move to and from school each day with ease.

Mohammed was accompanied by his elder brother, who could not hide his joy, the family expressed deep gratitude to the NGO for remembering children with disabilities.

“This gift means a lot to our family. It will make it easier for Mohammed to go to school every day without depending on others,” his brother.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr. William Kwame Amankrah Appiah, commended Women’s Health Wealth for the thoughtful gesture. He noted that the initiative would go a long way to encourage children with disabilities to remain in school and participate fully in academic life.
“This is a meaningful contribution to the realisation of Ghana’s Inclusive Education Policy. It reminds us that education must reach everyone, regardless of their physical condition,” Dr. William Kwame Amankrah (Ashanti Regional Director of Education, GES)
Mr. Gideon Appiah, the Regional Special Education Coordinator, also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the organisation, describing the donation as timely and impactful.
“On behalf of the Special Education Unit, I say thank you. This is the kind of support that helps break barriers and gives every child a fair chance to learn and grow,” Mr. Gideon Appiah.
The donation aligns with Ghana Education Service’s vision of making education inclusive, equitable, and accessible to all, especially for children with special needs who often face logistical and infrastructural challenges.
Women’s Health Wealth indicated that more donations are expected in the coming months, as they continue to work with the GES to identify and support vulnerable learners across the region.
