The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have extended operational hours at the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi and the Tamale International Airport, effective Saturday, 1st June 2025, in a move aimed at enhancing domestic air travel across the country.
Under the new schedule, Prempeh I International Airport, formerly known as Kumasi Airport, will operate until 11:00 PM, an extension from its previous closing time of 8:00 PM. Tamale International Airport will now remain open until 10:00 PM, up from the previous 6:00 PM closure.

In a joint statement, GCAA and GACL said the decision is part of efforts to increase accessibility, improve flight scheduling flexibility, and support the rising demand for domestic travel, particularly between Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to all airlines to reflect the updated operational timelines.
Domestic carriers have been advised to adjust their flight schedules accordingly and explore opportunities to increase service frequency to and from the two regional hubs.
The extended hours are also expected to stimulate regional economies and improve connectivity for both business and leisure travelers, as Ghana seeks to strengthen its domestic aviation network.
