After weeks of strategic planning and coordination, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Job Creation, has officially launched the Technical and Steering Committees to begin the much-anticipated Work Abroad program.
The launch marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s efforts to create safe, legal, and structured labor migration pathways for its youth.
Speaking at the event, YEA CEO Malik Basintale reaffirmed the Agency’s dedication to delivering on President John Mahama’s vision of providing decent overseas employment opportunities for Ghanaians. He emphasized that the goal is not only to secure legal work placements abroad but also to ensure beneficiaries return with enhanced skills and resources to contribute to Ghana’s economic development.

“These committees represent the framework for a well-governed migration process that safeguards the dignity and rights of Ghanaian youth while opening doors to global opportunities,” Basintale stated.
The committees include representatives from several key institutions: the Ministry of Labour, YEA, the Labour Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of the Interior, Ghana Immigration Service, International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the Centre for Migration Studies at the University of Ghana, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The launch is seen as a major step toward positioning Ghana as a model for ethical labor migration in West Africa, offering its youth not just jobs, but life-changing opportunities abroad.
