The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made a promise in their 2024 manifesto, committing to incorporate accommodation facilities into all newly constructed schools across Ghana.
This pledge was announced by the party’s flagbearer, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, during the official launch of the 2024 NDC Manifesto in Winneba.
Mr. Mahama highlighted the party’s dedication to improving the welfare of teachers, emphasizing that every new school built under an NDC government will include teachers’ bungalows to provide adequate housing for educators. He stressed that this initiative is aimed at addressing the longstanding issue of inadequate teacher accommodation, particularly in rural areas where the lack of housing often deters teachers from accepting postings.
In addition to providing accommodation for teachers in new schools, Mr. Mahama assured that the NDC has plans to extend this benefit to already existing schools that currently lack adequate teacher housing. The construction of these bungalows is expected to enhance the living conditions of teachers, thereby boosting their morale and commitment to their profession, he added
Mr. Mahama reiterated that the NDC’s plans for the education sector go beyond infrastructure. He assured teachers and other education stakeholders that the party has a comprehensive strategy to improve the quality of education in Ghana, with teacher welfare being a top priority.
According to him, the NDC’s vision for education is one that ensures every teacher is well-supported and motivated to deliver quality education to Ghanaian students.
Mr. Mahama urged teachers and all citizens to consider the NDC’s manifesto as a blueprint for a better education system and a better Ghana.
