The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Ghanaian Parliament has been directed to investigate 18 teachers who are alleged to have promoted themselves illegally, leading to a significant financial loss to the state.
According to the report, these unlawful promotions have resulted in a loss of GH₵188,000 to the government, which these 18 teachers have chopped.
Information received indicates that these 18 teachers, whose identities have not been disclosed, are located in the Amansie Central District.
The District Director of Education, as noted in the report by the PAC, has managed to recover GH₵34,000 of the misappropriated funds. However, a significant portion of the money remains unaccounted for, prompting further investigation.
The PAC has assured the general public that it will thoroughly probe this issue to uncover all relevant details. The committee’s investigation is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding these illegal promotions and the use of fake certificates by the implicated teachers.
