Dr. Susan Oforiwaa Koduah, a distinguished alumna of Kumasi Girls Senior High School (Class of 1993) and Assistant Professor at George Mason University’s School of Nursing and professional psychologist is renowned for her transformative work in oncology nursing, higher education, and community advocacy . As part of her birthday wish for this year, she took on a purposeful action by personally funding and launching an ICT Lab at her alma mater, Kumasi Girls SHS on June 30,2025
The laboratory which has been named “Dr. Susan O. Koduah ICT Lab” is furnished with modern computers that has high‑speed internet and software vital to 21st century learning as an ambitious feat fully achieved through her commitment and resources. This initiative aligns with her professional dedication to education, critical thinking development, and equipping underserved communities with essential skills .
Kumasi Girls SHS established in 1953, has a proud legacy of academic excellence and alumnae leadership, including notable figures like Dr. Koduah herself. By providing this cutting edge lab, she reaffirms the school’s mission to empower girls to effect change in Ghana and beyond.
Headmistress Adellaide Biyaa Powers and the school faculty hailed the investment as “a generational gift,” as students already report increased enthusiasm and confidence in digital literacy skills that pave the way for future careers in STEM fields. According to Dr. K, this lab doesn’t just bridge the digital divide but also opens doors to possibilities that were previously out of reach.
Dr. Susan Koduah believes that the gesture would exemplifies leadership steeped in humility, echoing her professional values particularly during her term as chapter president of the Oncology Nursing Society in Northern Virginia where she emphasized listening, collaboration, and elevating others’ potential.
