Ghana to Deal with Over GH¢67 Billion in Arrears Across the 23 Ministries

At a recent meeting between the Ministry of Finance and the Chief Directors in Accra, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance, revealed that the Ministry of Finance owes over GH¢67 billion in arrears to 23 ministries.

The Finance Minister pledged his commitment to settle all the arrears, provided the Auditor-General submits a comprehensive and completed audit report clearing the ministries.

The Finance Minister directed all Chief Directors to work closely with the Auditor-General to ensure he has all the necessary support to carry out a thorough audit.

Hon. Ato Forson also tasked the Auditor-General to verify which of the claims have valid commencement warrants.

“No single pesewa will be paid without the Auditor-General’s affirmative endorsement,” the Minister emphasized.
